Another miserable clothing collection

Regular readers will know the antipathy I hold for the scams that disguise themselves as clothing collections. Greeting me on the doormat was another such leaflet asking me to spare a thought for those who can't afford new clothes or shoes and asking me to leave mine out so that these people could sell them on to the poor and needy for a handy markup (they didn't mention the markup bit).

If you've got stuff to give then I'd rather you gave it to a real charity rather than this lot. Let's face it, on Central Road there's more than enough choice of charity shops!!

Crime wave!*

Having reported the smashing of a window at KFC a few days ago there's been an incident at the new Sainsburys in Worcester Park where apparently some ne'er-do-well child/youth smashed a small-ish hole in the window on the car park side, nipped through it and made off with some beverages from the section he probably wouldn't have been allowed to buy from during normal shopping hours.

Oh yes, and I had another flyer from those dear people at A&P Colection Ltd asking for stuff tomorrow. Rodents.

*Not exactly, but I thought a dramatic title might provoke more interest.

It's Saturday

I normally don't blog on Saturdays and, judging by the stats, you don't tend to read them on Saturdays either but I thought I'd post today stirred in the knowledge that this humble blog has been deluged with visitors (relatively speaking) since I posted about A&P Collection the other day. Although my first love is blogging about this strange hamlet known as Worcester Park the clothes collection stuff seems to be taking on a life of its own. I hope it's making a difference for people in general but if you haven't been reading the comments on earlier posts I thought I'd highlight this one from Peter, which can be found here:

Just had a collection bag put through the door by some eastern look guy, it's a collection for donotdelay.org. Checked out the site and arrived at yours, sending a cheque to Royal marsden as suggested and will be putting out the plastic bag for collection on Tuesday as requested filled with the contents of the cat's litter tray!!

If you can't tell from where you're sitting, I'm smiling :)

More clothing collection stuff

A couple more clothing collection leaflets dropped through the front door at Brinkster Central this week, which are the first for a while. Let me say up front that if you have anything in your house you don't want then either give it to a registered charity or flog it on eBay and give the money to charity, don't let these people make money for themselves out of your old stuff.

The first one doesn't claim to be curing cancer or anything and just asks for stuff giving the company registration 05834199 and an email address of helpsupportltd@hotmail.com

Companies House shows that being registered to:

The company was set up last June with no stated "Nature of Business" and no accounts to date (though none due).

The next one is more up front and doesn't claim to be providing jobs and affordable clothing and just says that they want your stuff. It was from A&P COLLECTION Ltd with a company registration of 5769478 and email address of apcollectionltd@yahoo.co.uk

but no further details, similar to the other one.

Just to repeat what I said at the start, don't give these people your stuff!!
